Akar

“Akar” is the Indonesian word for “roots”: the Akar is a growing piece of furniture. It is a table designed as the coming together of two wooden elements to support a marble surface. The physical challenge of its craftsmanship came in the liberation of its corners, the simplicity and lightness of its structure. All construction elements are exposed: the two wooden ribbons are offset from the corners, to let the edges free of hard edges. The table was created around a slab of Tanya White marble, recalling spilled black ink flowing on the surface. It can be made in different options of stone or with a wooden tabletop and a drawer.

The desk Akar was revealed at EDIT design show in Napoli, 2021.
